Artist Statement
My art confronts viewers with reinterpretations of the world around them and offers opportunities to shift people’s perspectives and perceptions. In this work the use of repetition and small pieces creating a whole helps to give the shape its sense of growth and movement. Though its materials are heavy and industrial, the extensive use of negative space allows for the form to maintain a light and airy sensibility. This work references the growths of vines in Franconia’s Garden. Imagining these small delicate shapes in nature on a large scale changes viewers’ relationships to these forms and allows for a new appreciation of these familiar organic flowing shapes
