Artist Statement
These baskets want to be used, but never can be.
The Washing is left unattended to. Those supposed to be completing the task finding themselves at an impasse with expectations.
Objects hold onto the power and connotations we give them. Manipulating materials create space for pause and reassessment. I enjoy casting metal because the expectation of what you see is challenged as you realize that it is a facsimile. That moment of open mindedness as previously held beliefs are not met are created to question those beliefs.
