Artist Statement
My work, while drawing on forms and imagery observed in plant life, explores the physical and non-physical realms of our world. I find elements of transformation, division, union, containment and space and solidify them. Using cast iron as the primary material, the process of casting becomes integral to the work. The metamorphosis of the scrap iron through fire and heat to become a new object, a new form, is vital to the work.
