Artist Statement
I wanted to make a boat that was also part chicken and had three crew-members in it. It was originally a ship of fools concept. As I got into the project more, the Viking aspects of the vessel started to morph then chicken boat into a dragon boat. My partner and I are expecting a baby, and the idea of an egg as a central figure presented itself and I went with it.
It’s a Viking birth boat!
My past work has been heavily Mesoamerican inspired. My mother is of Scandinavian heritage and I’m exploring Viking culture with this project.
The egg has antlers because an egg should.
