Artist Statement
Between Two; Towers Holds takes into consideration the two towers that influence my work, aesthetic beauty and conceptual thought. Between these values I have found a safe space where I can comfortably practice my artistic pursuit. I created a web of connections to both suspend me between these two pillars and to allude to the connections between people, style, and values that define my artistic practice. Between Towers; Realization Holds was not my original idea to construct when I first arrived at Franconia. Due to an engineering flaw my completed original work was torn apart by the very element it was intended to display, the wind. My current sculpture is a testament to my willingness to adapt despite major setbacks. A personal realization I have had here at Franconia is despite how I fight the two sides of modern art, my work cannot evolve without both. While at Franconia, I have realized that despite my doubts I have about rationalizing the values of my work, my sculptures cannot evolve without both.
