Artist Statement:
I am a multidisciplinary artist, working in performance, sculpture and video. The thematic link in my work is the relationship of creativity, humor, and survival. I build shelters, boats, and develop off-grid technologies. The work I produce is not an attempt to produce practical, consumer-ready products, but are gestures that respond to the power relationships of cultural producers, pointing to individual and collective potential. From Circumnavigation New York City in hand – made bots to performing on icebergs in the arctic, I view water as a critical diminishing resource, as well as the last non – privatized space in the United States.
