Rotem & Omri Zin-Tamir

7/1/23-9/10/23

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

“The drawing hanging in the center of the room is a 10’x10’ sheet of paper that we made from Abaca and Japanese Kozo fibers. Embedded into the natural fibers are some readymade papers we found in our wallets. After making the smaller sheets, we glued them together using Tapioca glue to make the large piece. Then we impregnated it with a mixture of Pine Resin and Tung Oil to make it more resistant to moisture.

On the final paper, we drafted a blueprint of the floor plans of both of the apartments we were each born in, as each of us remembered them, combined into a single living space. On the other side of the paper, there is a drawing of pliers in a circular chase trying to bite itself, like the Ouroboros – the snake that devours its own tail.

In the background, there is a blue wall with a retractable gate or window bar pattern designed from the same pliers that appears in the drawing. The blue color covering the wall is made of natural Indigo Pigment mixed with a medium of Gum Arabic and White Wine.” – Rotem and Omri Zin-Tamir

Home Sick opens at the Mardag Gallery in the Franconia Commons with a public reception with the artists on Saturday, July 1, 2023 from 2pm-4pm, concurrent with a Music @ Franconia outdoor concert event. The exhibition will run until September 10, 2023.
