Artist Statement
What’s Inside informs relationships between architecture and the body, specifically the similarities between the two. I utilized commercial building techniques and materials, while designing and constructing them with curves, finger marks, openings, and a nostril inspired interior meant to emphasize human influence and characteristics.
Various windows are presented, while a door is intentionally excluded. This prompts one to look inside but not enter. Looking into one’s personal space is as intrusive as looking up someone’s nose; space is innately similar to the body wherein more intimate qualities are on the inside as opposed to the outside, both physically and emotionally.
