Artist Statement

Black Poplar: 89.6 MHz is a land artwork which uses FM transmission to broadcast the inner acoustics of this tree throughout the landscape. The work seeks to challenge the visual and spatial expectations of land art practices, by presenting a land artwork which focuses attention on the temporal dimensions of a landscape (duration, simultaneity), rather than the visual-spatial relationships (form, scale).
