Artist Statement
Zephyr is the only sculpture at Franconia that can’t be fully experienced unless it’s dark outside. Constructed from an old billboard frame, Zephyr is composed of seven geometric shapes that are lit up by LED neon lights in a randomized sequence. The shapes made by the LED neon follow the architecture of the old sign, and mysteriously light up the disembodied structure in the night sky to passersby. It was Clive’s hope that these fleeting neon images would catch drivers’ attention, causing them to reconsider roadside sights forevermore.
