Artist Statement
I explore issues of identity, issues of beauty, and how they relate to one another, in addition to anthropological issues, related to the concept of a global society. Within these examinations, identity is a key element and means of reflection.I use a variety of mediums to deconstruct the traditional gaze on commonly examined aspects of society, as well as the uncommon. I want to provide an alternative to the traditional gaze and bring awareness to subjectivity in popular representations of identity. This extends to questioning who controls the imagery that is used to define people and cultures in the 21st century.
