Alex Legeros
Executive Director
Alex Legeros enriches lives through arts experiences as both a creator and as a leader in Minnesota’s vibrant cultural community. Passionate about how people grow through art, his path in life has followed a north star centered in understanding how art affects and reflects us.
Alex is a graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Master of Professional Studies in Arts and Cultural Leadership program, during which time he was the Executive Director of The Musical Offering and published leading research on engaging millennials in classical music. He has served in leadership roles on a variety of nonprofit Boards, including MacPhail Center for Music, Mill City Summer Opera, White Bear Center for the Arts, and Danebod Folk/Family Camps. Prior to Franconia, Alex led significant fundraising efforts at both the White Bear Center for the Arts and The Museum of Russian Art, while also growing audiences and expanding the community impact of those institutions locally and globally.
Alex plays bassoon and contrabassoon around the Twin Cities with a variety of community bands and orchestras, as well as the “Artrio” bassoon trio. Sergeant Legeros, as he was called on the weekends, served as a bassoon player in the US Army Reserves, supporting soldiers, veterans, families, and communities across the country. The son of two artists, Alex’s family tree is full of people who’ve added to the cultural landscape of Minnesota, serving as role models for his career. He worked alongside his father Nick in creating and delivering over one hundred bronze sculptures, including Goldy Gopher at the University of Minnesota. He and his partner Thomas Putzier created a 23’ sculpture “Sugar Shack” at Franconia Sculpture Park in 2017.
