Artist Statement:

For over a decade, I’ve constantly traveled between my place of origin, Mexico, and my place of residence, Minneapolis. This perennial movement has triggered a cultural tension in my work and created an in-between space where the development of my work occurs. My recent installations have tried to reinvent that location where two parallel cultural realities collide.

My work often questions the themese of globalism and migration, and their consequences of cultural assimilation, isolation, and the disintegration of personal and cultural memories. I have in recent years been interested in constructing vessels and containers, in particular boats, in order to explore these ideas.
